An Australian surfer out catching a few 6 footers fell victim to a shark attack at Cowaramup Bay, Gracetown, Western Auz and unfortunately died from his wounds.
The attack happened at about 8am local time; the 31 year old was out on his own catching a last few waves before he headed off back to work in the mines.
He managed to drag himself onto the rocks and several locals rushed to his aid. His leg was badly bitten and he died on the way to the hospital.
The poor guy had a wife and two young children.
It's thought that a group of seals in the bay attracted the shark and the surfer was mistaken. The guy's surfboard was snapped in half during the attack.
Its the fourth such attack in that area since 2004, I'll definitely be watching my back if I venture to Australia any time soon; its crazy but I guess these guys know the dangers and know it could happen to any of them.
We thought we were bad with Jelly fish and Weaver Fish!!
More info on the attack can be seen on this Australian website.
