The first day of the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach was greeted by a solid swell much to the delight of the pros and spectators alike. It's live on the Rip Curl website and makes good viewing especially with conditions like this.
Joel parkinson leads the way after a top performance and the 30 year old Aussie will be hoping for a repeat of the 2009 event where he claimed first place.
Parkinson locked in the highest wave score and the highest heat score of the opening day of competition scoring 17.74 (out of a possible 20.00) to advance directly through to Round 3 of competition.
Make sure to check out the link above tonight for day two of the championship.
