Sipping Jetstreams, directed by Taylor Steele is an amazing movie bringing the audience a variety of secluded, beautiful surf locations and one thing is for sure this movie is all about the surfing; personalities, fame, or ego's don't get a look in!
Steele, along with photographer Dustin Humphrey, grew slighty tired of the regular surf locations and asked themselves with all the travelling over the years, have they really seen the world? They made a pact to find those parts of the world steeped in culture as well as waves and took the advice of the poet Robert Frost; take the road less travelled!
With top names such as Kelly Slater, Andy Irons and Dane Reynolds they set off for exotic locations including Morocco, Hong Kong, Italy, Egypt and Cuba.
With no commentary, just music, surfing and the background noise from the different locations you really get a chance to feel the film and taste the culture of the different countries visited.
The soundtrack for this film is excellent; some great tunes which complete the movie. Just below are a few of the top songs from the soundtrack... enjoy!
No exact surf locations are given in this film which nearly tempts you to grab the bag and jet off to find them yourself!
There is some great surf footage to be seen and the short clips of the diverse cultures is a nice way of the makers to show their respect for these people and their way of life.
I really enjoyed this film and the music soundtrack was excellent, some well chosen tunes to suit the different sections of the film. I've got a short trailer of the movie below... enjoy.

ReplyDeleteBest surf film...not just the usual surf porn. Pity Castles in the Sky the follow up didn't quite match Sipping...partly because the soundtrack is nowhere near as good.
ReplyDeleteI thought Castles was a much better film! Better cinematography (like waaay better), better edited, much more engaging and more vivid visually..anyways that's my tuppence worth!
ReplyDeleteCastles has good sections...iceland and rasta surfing under a pier! Probably warrants another few watches and it might grab me! The soundtrack was a bit too mellow me thinks though...good but really mellow.
