Yesterday we headed West to test the water...it had to be warmer than 2 weeks earlier! and... it was.
The sun was splitting the stones as we left Westmeath but getting closer to the West coast the clouds began to roll in. We stopped at our usual coffee shop Esquires at Carrick-on-Shannon.
Praying for Streedagh to be working...it was against all the odds, the swell was too small and as we crept over the dunnes and onto the beach the lack of waves was confirmed... Tullan Strand it was then and I had to face my fears after my last mishap there back in December.
We met the rest of the crew at Bundoran, there was 5 of us altogether... the weather wasnt bad, the water seemed to be warmer and the waves were decent looking...so we suited up and hit the water.
The waves varied from 2 - 3 foot with bigger 5 foot ones rolling in but these were mainly from the cross wave which seems to bounce off the cliffs...I wasn't going anywhere near these!
We caught a nice few waves and there were some guys there really ripping it up on the bigger waves.
Roll on Lahinch next wknd!
