There's no sound, not much surf but the footage transports you back to 1972 where it was cool to have a surfboard sponsored by Marlboro Cigarettes and a time when Ireland actually got a summer! They were even checking out Aileens and they didn't even know it, or did they!! IM sure some of the Locals in Lahinch will recognise themselves! Anyway, sit back and allow yourself be transported to 1972 for 15min or so!

Vintage Surf Footage of Lahinch 1972
We recently came across this great vintage footage of Lahinch from 1972 during the Eurosurf Competition. Unfortunately there was not enough swell for the competition and only the junior division was held. Despite this, the next day at Spanish point gave rise to classic swell and prompted a Surfari from Lahinch to Rossnowlagh. The surfari included a number of international surfers and they were rewarded with 8-10ft waves with light offshores. (Ref: ISA)
