Next weekend - 16th & 17th October the annual Rossnowlagh Intercounties will take place at Rossnowlagh, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal.
This is an All-Ireland surfing competition with teams representing counties from all over the Country battling it out for the prestigious Intercounties title. Each team will comprise 3 to 4 surfers.
The contest has been running since 1969 and is very much a social as well as a competitive event with surfers from all corners of Ireland arriving on the shores of Rossnowlagh for the weekend.
At the moment there doesn't seem to be a great deal of swell around for much of the weekend. However, looking at the forecasts there's a pick up in the swell nearing Sunday afternoon; hopefully this will push in a little earlier for Saturday's contest!
