Spanish Point beach is located about 15 mins drive south of Lahinch and offers another option when in this area. I tend to go here when Lahinch is too busy or if the winds are strong.
It works well with a west or south westerly swell and a wind that has some east in it. I find that it is somewhat sheltered from southerly winds; at least more than other breaks around that area.
There's lots of car parking right at the beach and the toilets are open during the summer months.
This beach is busy with swimmers during the summer months and a lifeguard is usually on duty so its best to keep outside the designated swimming areas. The local surf school in Miltown Malbay White Water Surf Co. provide surf lessons at this beach.
It's got more popular with surfers in recent times, but I guess everywhere has!
There's not too much danger to watch out for here, a small bit of a rip may drag you northwards towards the exposed rocks but its never too serious and there's plenty of sandy beach to have a safe surf. The wave can be dumpy at times so just watch for that.
There are a few reef breaks in close proxmity but these are for the more advanced.
