This weekend 2nd and 3rd October, the West Sligo Surf Club will host the Billabong Easkey Open at Easkey Left.
The Billabong Easkey Open is the final event of this years Senior Championships Tour where Irish Champions will be crowned in the following categories Open, Women, Bodyboard, Women’s Bodyboard, Longboard, Master, Senior and SUP.
The event is the first of three selection events for next year's Irish Surf Team. With The European Surfing Championships scheduled to take place in Bundoran from the 23rd Sept to 2nd Oct in 2011 every competitor will want a place on the team.
Looking at the charts for this weekend, it seems that there's going to be a great swell rolling in for the competition. Up to 5 metre swell, a 12 second wave period and a southerly wind thats dropping back all weekend.
Hope it goes well for them and I'm sure that some of the best in the Country will be ripping it up!
