The Inaugural Rossnowlagh Longboard Contest run by Rossnowlagh Surf Club kicks off on the 12th June. The contest will include an Open Event, a Ladies Event and a Junior Event, and if there is interest on the day there will be a Stand Up Paddle Board event!
The weekend is aimed at Longboarders from around the country and hopefully many will meet up to swap stories, board designs, techniques and have the craic. The organisers are having a BBQ on the saturday evening followed by music in the Surfers Bar to get the socialising and banter going.
Prizes are sponsored by a whole range of local businesses and local artist Gavin McCrea joins the ranks of Barry and Easkey Britton by designing the Poster.
The rules: boards must be at least 9 feet long and competitors must also have ISA membership. Entry is €5 and will be taken on the day.
Should be a good event and if the swell rolls in and weather keeps good the craic should be mighty. For more details contact Neil Britton of http://www.finmccoolsurfschool.com/.
