While I was down in Clare last weekend I picked up the latest edition of Tonnta Irish Surf Mag... I have to grab a copy whenever I go to the west coast, theres not too many issues for sale in Westmeath!
As we all know we've just come out of one of the coldest Winters most of us can remember and the latest edition of Tonnta has a few good shots of the freezing, but glassy looking waves on show over the past few months.
The front cover is a shot of Cian Kilcullen taken by Pete Fleming and according to Paudie this is Pete's first cover shot.
There's a few shots of Fergal Smith and his crew and a serious set of clips from Barry Mottershead ripping it at Aileens, I never get sick of pics and videos of these waves.
To warm up the souls... and make us all a bit jealous, there's a feature on the Mentawai Islands where boardshorts are all thats needed!
Strandhill is highlighted in this edition with some info on the location, a few shots of some great waves being caught and a two page pic (from Mark Capilitan) of Strandhill from a viewpoint over the prominade.
There's also a few tales from Easkey Britton and her travels around Indonesia, and the usual features of poetry, the mail bag, and news from around the Country.
Tonnta is always a good read and its a great way for us all to catch up on the coming and goings of surfing in Ireland.
