Yesterday I set out for Spanish Point... the sun was beaming down, I hated been stuck in the car for so long but thats the sacrifice for a couple of hours in the water!
There wasn't a massive swell coming in but I knew there would be enough for waves a couple of feet in height. Got to Spanish Point at about 12.30 and met up with a couple of friends; Ronan & Melissa.
The waves were coming in nice sets but were only about the 2 foot range with the odd 3 footer rolling in. I got a bit impatient for a while out in the water when nothing was happening but thank god the sun was shining!
I didn't bother with a hood, the water wasn't quite as warm as I thought it would be but was nice to have a bit of sun on the face, it hasn't been out in a while!
I caught a couple of 2 footers clean and had a few wipeouts... (I blame the long drive for this!) I can really see myself improving this year with more frequent sessions in the water, its all about practice!
The conditions were perfect apart from the small swell but the south easterly winds held up whatever waves rolled in.
Hopefully the good weather is a sign of the summer kicking in, the only problem is the waves are not going to be as frequent.
