Close Encounter with Dusty The Dolphin

What a beautiful day for a surf, the swell size was far from epic but Fanore picked up the small bit of westerly swell that was around. Myself and Marc got to the beach at around 10am yesterday and were happy to have the place to ourselves for the first half hour. It seems the summer crowds are definitely dropping off as the colder weather sets in.

The waves were struggling to make 1ft for most of the session but the odd 2ft wave kept us happy. What made the morning special was the appearance of Dusty the Dolphin. He's well known in the area but today was my first encounter with him. I couldn't believe how close he came to us... he swam right up under Marc's board then came over and brushed by mine.

We caught a few nice waves between us and called it a day after about an hour and a half. Great to get a dip in the water before our trip to Portrush next weekend. Heres hoping those northerly winds will be gone by then and we get some nice southerlys for the weekend!
