Flashback...
Back in October 2008 a good group of us headed West... very West! Achill Island was the location and to say the least the weather was wild.
There was about 11 of us altogether; the majority of us stayed in the Valley House Hostel, with a few of the couples staying in the Achill Lodge B&B.
There wasn't much surfing done this weekend but thats the beauty of these surf trips when ya have a good gang with you; you'll always find something to do!
As you can see by the lack of surf photos below we didnt venture into the water too often... this was purely because of the wild wintry conditions on offer that weekend. We managed two sessions, one at Doogort on the Saturday which was so wild and I got hammered by the waves continuously, the second was on the Monday at Keel Beach when the weather had calmed down a little but the hailstones made an appearance!
This was our first experience of the Valley House bar and it made a serious impression... the Guinness was unreal and I've never drank so much of it in one weekend, to top it off the pub was mighty craic and the local musicans really made us feel welcome.
A great bank holiday weekend all round, everyone enjoyed the experience and many of us have gone back for second helpings!
